Travel Packing Essentials
Hey traveler! I love traveling, but I hate packing. If you're anything like me, you probably end up procrastinating until the last possible minute and then throw everything into the suitcase in a rush, right? But don’t worry! After countless trips (and I’m so grateful for every one of them), I’ve picked up a few tips that might sound obvious, but honestly, they make all the difference. Follow these steps and packing will become so much easier!
1. Do your laundry
How many times have I mentally planned my outfits, only to realize that the top or pants I wanted were still in the laundry? First tip: always set aside a day to do your laundry before a trip. That way, everything will be clean and ready when it’s time to pack.
2. Mix & Match
This is a golden rule! Every piece you pack should work in at least two different outfits by swapping tops, bottoms, or even shoes (sneakers, sandals, heels). It saves space and ensures you always have a fresh look for photos!
3. Pick the right clothes
Comfort is key especially if you're exploring and walking around all day. But that doesn’t mean you have to dress like you're going to the gym. Choose pieces that feel good but still look nice, like linen pants or a loose button-up shirt. And don’t forget to pack one dressier outfit for a nice dinner!
4. Steamer
Wrinkled clothes? No thanks! A small travel steamer (make sure it’s dual voltage!) is a lifesaver. It’s super practical, and trust me you’ll be glad you brought it. You can find them at all price points online.
5. Don’t forget accessories
Even if you’re not a total accessory queen like I am, a necklace or scarf can totally elevate your look. And two must-haves you should never leave behind: sunscreen and sunglasses, of course!
6. Packing cubes are your best friend
Those little packing bags? Total game changer. I use different sizes to keep things from slipping around and getting wrinkled. I like separating underwear, accessories, and workout clothes. Get creative. Whatever works for you!
7. Beauty, makeup & hair
I like to prep everything I’ll need, skincare, shampoo, conditioner, and hair tools. Ahead of time. But here’s my trick: I only pack them on the day of the trip. I use everything I’m planning to take, so I know it’s all there and nothing gets forgotten.
8. Electronics
Laptop (if needed), all the "i" stuff (iPhone, iPad, iPod), Kindle, chargers, and adapters. DO NOT forget your travel adapter! If you do, be ready to overpay for one while traveling.
9. Double-check your list
If you're more organized than me and you’ve already made a list. Now’s the time to review it! Do a final check and make sure you haven’t left out anything, like your phone charger or your camera to capture all the special moments.
I’m heading off on a trip next week and I’ll be sharing all my prep on Stories. Come see if I actually follow my own tips! 😄
So, what do you think? What are your must-do travel packing tricks? Share them with me! 😉
